Questions to Ask When Troubleshooting

Unfortunately, not all schedules last forever. As your baby grows, they’re going to need to adjust as their sleep needs change. Thankfully, this is why Nighttime Heroes exists!

And when this inevitably happens, we’re going to ask you a few questions to get an idea of what needs to be changed. Here are some of the things we need to know:

1) How old is your baby?

This is going to determine the general sleep needs of the baby. Younger babies require more sleep and slowly changes as the baby gets older.

2) What is your current schedule?

To know what needs fixing, we’ll need a complete view of your baby’s current schedule. This includes things like wake up times, nap time, eating times, and bedtime. Another helpful piece of info would be where in your current schedule you’re having difficulty – this way we can pinpoint which areas need fixing.

3) Has your baby learned any new skills?

Sometimes a baby will pick up a new skill which could totally throw off their sleep patterns. For example, rolls, crawling, walking, or talking can all be way too exciting at bedtime and be very distracting for baby.

Once we have a full understanding of your current situation, we’ll be able to advise on what to change and how to troubleshoot a schedule. Keep in mind, not every change will work immediately. Sometimes schedules will require a few days or weeks of consistency before seeing a significant change in your baby’s behavior. Don’t give up hope, and remember everything is fixable!
