They go to bed HOW EARLY?!
As adults, it’s really hard to conceptualize what a normal bedtime for a baby would be.
“I go to bed around 10-11 pm, I guess my baby should do the same. Right?”
Nope!
When babies hit the 4-month mark and their sleep patterns start to regulate, they naturally start to become tired at night and awake during the day. However, what their bodies understand as night, doesn’t always align with what consider night to be!
A bedtime for babies will often fall sometime between 6 and 8 pm, sometimes even as early as 5 pm. This usually makes people’s jaws drop. How could they possibly sleep that early?
Honestly, it’s just how their sleep patterns work – they tend to be tired enough to fall asleep around 6-8 pm and then wake up between 6-8 am. Solidly about 12 hours of sleep.
While this can seem overwhelming, especially for new parents, adhering to proper bedtimes allows your baby to get the sleep they need, and the “me-time” you need to be the best parent you can be during the day!
